Seven years later... as told by the co-founder, Skeet - a.k.a. Jason Dorland.

Sadly, the reason behind this Companies mere existence arrived. On June 30, 2002, Ike passed away. I began this Company with the notion of immortalizing him on a food product label. Well, he was now officially immortalized. I promised him if Skeet & Ike’s was still around when he left me, I’d give him a halo. I’ve never known anyone more deserving. He epitomized the being we should all strive for. I still insist I’ve learned more from him, than he ever did from me.

Every year on his Birthday we (Ike included) would have veggie burgers, home made oven fries, 0.5-beer, carrot cake and soy ice cream. Needless to say Ike enjoyed that day, all nine of them. So, to celebrate his life we decided to have a party at our plant with the whole Skeet & Ike’s family. The menu was the same and everyone, even those who never met him, appreciated what the legacy of this little guy now meant for them. The following day Ian and I, along with Ike’s mom and a few friends hiked up Black Mountain (his favourite hike) and sprinkled some of his ashes. Given that he was a well-travelled pup, I imagine we’ll be at least a few months checking off the favourite haunts of Ike.
